About the Event

On October 14, we will bring together our inaugural veterans and their families, sponsors, community and special dignitaries for a special Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
We will honor our PROUDLY WE SERVED veterans for their military service and contributions to our community, and each veteran will be presented with their own PROUDLY WE SERVED portrait—a lasting tribute for them and their families.

About the Collection

Through personal video interviews, Latino veterans shared—in their own words—their military service, sacrifices and experiences, as well as the contributions they made to our community after returning to civilian life. With each new story, we preserve another important chapter of San Diego history for future generations.

PROUDLY WE SERVED debuted on June 30 with the stories of 18 San Diego Latino veterans and is permanently housed on the Latino Legacy Foundation website. The collection is free and accessible to veterans and their families, students, educators and the public.
